Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development Hon. Esrom Immanuel today received a farewell courtesy call from the United States Embassy in Fiji Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. John Degory.
During the meeting, Minister Immanuel and Mr. Degory reflected on the strong and growing partnership between Fiji and the United States, highlighting recent high-level engagements, including the visit by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau.
Minister Immanuel also acknowledged the historic support provided through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) partnership and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to achieving a positive outcome.
Mr. Degory thanked the Ministry of Finance for its leadership and collaboration on recent U.S. initiatives and reaffirmed the United States’ continued support for Fiji’s development priorities. He also briefed the Minister on the Embassy’s interim leadership arrangements pending the appointment of a new Chargé d’Affaires.
Minister Immanuel expressed his appreciation for Mr. Degory’s contribution to strengthening Fiji–United States relations and wished him every success in his next diplomatic assignment.
