Fiji Procurement Guidelines 2026
August 14, 2026Minister for Finance Hon. Esrom Y. Immanuel has commended the Sawani Village School community for coming together to support the school’s annual fundraising initiative.
Speaking at the school’s fundraising event, Minister Immanuel highlighted the importance of the two key projects identified by the school — the construction of an ECE footpath and the renovation of teachers’ quarters.
He said the projects went beyond infrastructure, as they would contribute to the safety and wellbeing of young learners while recognising the important role teachers play in educating and shaping Fiji’s future.
Minister Immanuel said Government remained committed to ensuring that every child had access to education through initiatives such as free education, transport assistance, free textbooks and scholarship programmes.
He also reiterated that the Government’s focus was now increasingly on improving the quality of education, strengthening employability and ensuring students graduate with the skills and confidence needed to contribute meaningfully to Fiji’s economy.
The Minister noted that $883 million had been allocated to the education sector in the 2026–2027 National Budget, representing 18 percent of total Government expenditure and the largest sectoral allocation.
Minister Immanuel encouraged the Sawani community to continue working together to achieve, and potentially exceed, its $25,000 fundraising target, emphasising that every contribution was an investment in the future of the children and the wider community.
He thanked the School Management Committee, teachers, parents, old scholars and the wider Sawani community for their commitment to supporting the school and its students.
