JBIC Strengthens Partnership in Fiji
August 28, 2026The Infrastructure Sector of the Budget Division within the Ministry of Finance successfully hosted a Budget Awareness Session today, bringing together key implementing agencies and stakeholders.
The session was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport, the Fiji Police Force, and statutory authorities including the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF), Fiji Roads Authority (FRA), Land Transport Authority (LTA), and Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF).
Representatives from the Ministry of Finance Internal Audit and Good Governance Division and Fiji Procurement Office also participated, highlighting key issues and challenges encountered in working with implementing agencies.
The session provided a valuable platform to strengthen understanding of budget implementation, financial management requirements, project monitoring, reporting obligations, and accountability frameworks that support the effective delivery of Government programmes and services.
Through collaborative discussions and knowledge-sharing, participants explored common implementation challenges, exchanged experiences, and identified practical solutions to strengthen the planning, execution, and monitoring of Government-funded projects.
The discussions also reinforced the importance of prudent budget management, effective project monitoring, procurement compliance, and value-for-money principles to ensure public resources are used efficiently and remain aligned with the Government’s development priorities.
The Ministry of Finance sincerely appreciates the active participation and valuable contributions of all agencies and stakeholders. Together, we remain committed to strengthening public financial management, improving accountability, enhancing service delivery, and delivering meaningful outcomes for all Fijians.
