The Coalition Government is advancing a coordinated, future-focused aviation agenda, with the Honourable Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Hon. Viliame Gavoka, and the Honourable Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Esrom Immanuel, undertaking high-level engagements this week to strengthen a unified Team Fiji approach across the aviation sector.
The engagements signal a clear shift away from siloed operations towards a whole-of-sector framework that promotes shared responsibility, stronger coordination, and alignment with national development, tourism growth, and economic resilience goals.
Discussions involve Fiji’s four key aviation institutions—Fiji Airways, Fiji Airports Limited, Air Terminal Services (ATS), and the Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF)—aimed at reinforcing collaboration, improving inter-agency coordination, and enhancing performance across operations, regulation, infrastructure, and service delivery.
The Ministers have agreed to institutionalise regular high-level coordination meetings every three to four months to jointly address cross-cutting operational, regulatory, and infrastructure issues, strengthen information-sharing, and reinforce collective accountability for sector performance, safety, and sustainability.
Engagements began with Fiji Airways, with further meetings scheduled with the remaining entities, culminating in a joint session of all four stakeholders to consolidate shared priorities and chart a coordinated path forward.
The Coalition Government reaffirmed its commitment to a cohesive, high-performing aviation system—operating as one Team Fiji—to support national connectivity, economic growth, and Fiji’s continued development as a leading aviation and tourism hub in the Pacific.
