The Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Esrom Immanuel, met with senior Asian Development Bank (ADB) officials, including Regional Director Ms. Azusa Sato and Director General for the Pacific Department Ms. Emma Veve, at Ro Lalabalavu House in Suva.
Minister Immanuel congratulated Ms. Sato on her new posting and reaffirmed Fiji’s strong and long-standing partnership with ADB, describing the Bank as a key strategic development partner. He acknowledged ADB’s continued support in critical areas such as infrastructure, climate resilience and budget support, including its timely assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The meeting also discussed ongoing joint budget support programs with the World Bank, Government’s fiscal consolidation efforts, and opportunities to strengthen private sector–led growth and regional cooperation in the Pacific.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in support of Fiji’s development and economic resilience.
