Citizens Guide to the FY2026-2027 National Budget (English)
July 29, 2026The Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Esrom Immanuel, today officially launched the Citizens’ Guide to the National Budget 2026–2027, reaffirming the Government’s commitment to making the National Budget more accessible, transparent and inclusive for all Fijians.
Speaking at the launch, Hon. Immanuel said the guide simplifies the National Budget into an easy-to-understand publication, enabling citizens to better understand how public funds are raised, allocated and spent.
“Today marks yet another significant milestone in our journey of making the National Budget more accessible, transparent and inclusive for all Fijians,” he said.
He noted that the guide is being released for the second consecutive year in English, iTaukei and Hindi, ensuring that people from all backgrounds can access and understand the Government’s priorities and how the Budget impacts their daily lives.
The Minister said the 2026–2027 National Budget, themed “A Responsible Budget for a Sustainable Future,” reflects the aspirations of the people following extensive consultations and is built on responsible financial management to support sustainable economic growth while protecting vulnerable households.
“This initiative is about much more than translation. It is about ensuring that every citizen, regardless of language or background, has the opportunity to engage with the Budget, understand the Government’s priorities, and appreciate how public resources are being invested to improve their lives,” he said.
Hon. Immanuel also acknowledged the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts for assisting with the iTaukei translation, and thanked Ministry of Finance Permanent Secretary, Mr. Shiri Gounder, Head of Fiscal Policy Mr. Munesh Deo and the Fiscal Policy team for producing the guide in all three languages.
The Citizens’ Guide to the National Budget FY2026–2027 is now available in English, iTaukei and Hindi for all Fijians.
