The World Bank Division Director for the Pacific Islands, Mr. Stephen N. Ndegwa, and the Country Manager for the South Pacific, Mr. Stefano Mocci, met with the Minister for Finance, Hon. Esrom Emmanuel, at the GPH.
Mr. Ndegwa congratulated the Hon. Minister on his appointment. In response, the Hon. Minister acknowledged the World Bank as an important development partner for Fiji and the Pacific, noting its support for key initiatives such as the Correspondent Banking Relationship Project, the Regional Trade Facilitation Program, and the Health Sector Project.
He expressed his appreciation to the Bank’s management for their continued—and increased—funding allocation to Fiji, emphasizing the importance of accessing concessional financing to drive priority development areas including infrastructure investment in roads, the health sector, bridges, electricity, water, and broader national development priorities.
The Hon. Minister reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the World Bank and looks forward to continued partnership in the years ahead.
