Minister of Finance, Commerce and Business Development Hon. Esrom Immanuel met with Minister for Health and Medical Services Hon. Dr. Atonio Lalabalavu to discuss Fiji’s escalating HIV situation and strengthen the national response.
The meeting focused on improving coordination across government, boosting prevention and treatment programmes, and ensuring resources are mobilised to address the growing public health challenge.
Both Ministers emphasised the importance of expanding testing and treatment services, strengthening data systems and supply chains, and establishing a coordinated national mechanism, including a Project Management Unit, to support implementation and monitoring.
The Ministry of Finance will work closely with the Ministry of Health to develop a costed multi-year plan to accelerate Fiji’s HIV response.
