In a move to strengthen accountability, safety and efficiency in the management of government vehicles, the Government Fleet Management Unit under the Ministry of Finance successfully convened its first Transport Officers Workshop from 26 to 27 February 2026.
The workshop was delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Civil Service, the Fiji Learning Institute for Public Service (FLIPS), Land Transport Authority (LTA) Road Safety Education, and vehicle lessors, and brought together Transport Officers from across Government Ministries and Statutory Authorities.
The two-day programme focused on strengthening partnerships and improving the effective and prudent management of government vehicles and drivers. Key areas covered included Transport Policies, the Master Leasing Agreement, the Public Service Commission Code of Conduct and Values, as well as road transport regulations, safety requirements and penalties.
The Ministry of Finance reaffirmed its commitment to providing safe and reliable vehicles to all Government Ministries and Statutory Authorities, while ensuring Transport Officers and drivers are equipped to use government resources responsibly and with due care and diligence, helping to reduce complaints and road accidents.
Following the successful Suva workshop, similar sessions will be rolled out in the Western and Northern Divisions for Transport Officers and government drivers.
The Ministry of Finance extended its appreciation to all participants and partner agencies for their active participation and valuable contributions over the two-day workshop.
