The Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Esrom Immanuel, today farewelled the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Regional Director, Mr. Aaron Batten.
The Minister conveyed his sincere appreciation for Mr. Batten’s exemplary leadership, significant contributions, and the positive outcomes achieved during his tenure, which have further strengthened Fiji’s partnership with the ADB.
Under Mr. Batten’s stewardship, the ADB reclassified Fiji’s membership status, enabling the country to access concessional financing and more favourable soft-loan terms, including eligibility for ADF grants. His leadership also supported the implementation of major development projects and advanced key Government priorities.
In the interim, Deputy Director General for the Pacific Division in ADB office, Mr Masayuki Tachiiri will be the officer in charge.
Minister Immanuel wished Mr. Batten every success in his new assignment and reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to continue working closely with the incoming Regional Director to maintain and build upon this strong partnership.
