The Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Hon. Esrom Yosef Immanuel, officially opened the new Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) Ba Office last night.
In his address, the Minister described the opening as a significant milestone that reflects FRCS’s continued commitment to service excellence, modernisation, and national development.
“The opening of this office is more than a physical upgrade. It represents the remarkable progress FRCS has achieved in strengthening its systems, leadership capability, and compliance frameworks to better serve taxpayers,” the Minister said.
He acknowledged FRCS’s role in supporting Fiji’s fiscal stability through fair and efficient revenue collection, trade facilitation, and the promotion of transparent and predictable processes for businesses.
The Minister also highlighted Fiji’s recent removal from the European Union list of non-cooperative jurisdictions for tax purposes, following comprehensive reforms led by FRCS in tax transparency, governance, and international compliance.
“This achievement is a strong endorsement of the professionalism and integrity of FRCS and reinforces global confidence in Fiji’s tax system,” he said.
The new Ba Office will improve access to frontline services for taxpayers in Ba and surrounding areas, reduce travel time, and support FRCS’s digital transformation efforts. The modern facility is also expected to enhance customer experience and provide a conducive working environment for staff.
The Minister emphasised that FRCS plays a vital role in funding national priorities, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social protection, and continues to underpin economic resilience and long-term growth.
He concluded by thanking FRCS staff, planners, builders, and partners whose collective efforts made the new office possible.
“The new Ba Office symbolises progress, partnership, and our shared commitment to serving the people of Fiji with integrity and professionalism,” the Minister said.
